Welcome to the Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA),
a non-profit organization supporting the efforts of over 1 million caregivers in more than 70 countries as they seek to better understand and combat what many experts believe to be the
leading cause of death worldwide: sepsis.

Sepsis is the common final pathway of all acute infections. It arises when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. It may lead to shock, multiple organ failure, and death, especially if not recognized early and treated promptly. Read more

World Sepsis Day is a concept developed by the Global Sepsis Alliance, and operated as a collaborative effort with other organizations and individuals. Each year on 13 September, supporters all around the globe organize events to raise awareness for sepsis.

Sepsis should be known! The Global Sepsis
Alliance has established as its main focus for
2016 to persuade the World Health Assembly
(WHA) to approve by official resolution the
designation of World Sepsis Day (WSD) as one
of the World Health Days.

The GSA has rallied the Global Sepsis Community to elevate public, philanthropic and governmental awareness, understanding and support of sepsis and to accelerate collaboration among researchers, clinicians, associated working groups and those dedicated to supporting them. Our actions aim at educating medical professionals, informing policymakers, and creating awareness among the general public.
